With the increasingly prevalent application of computer technologies, the traditional design education starts to transform itself to adapt to the new landscape. “Mind and body: research on the transformation of contemporary design education” aims at summarizing and distilling what the project team led by Professor Su Dan of the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University has done over the years, which includes education cases, actual courses, artistic activities and international exchanges, into profound insights on the future design education system. The ultimate purpose is to build a model of future academy education featuring “a mobile and evolving school”, which is named “Academy 5.0”.

In October, 2018, the project team completed theoretical construction of “mind and body: research on the transformation of contemporary design education”, which means proposing and elaborating on the “Academy 5.0” concept. The project presented in detail Chinese and foreign researches and discussions on the education transformation as well as practical projects putting the theories into practice and commented on their outcomes, proving theories on design education transformation to be correct and effective.
