The THD Award was initiated by Taiwan National Association of Interior Designers in 2011 and received financing and guidance from C Foundation since 2016. The competition aims at helping students in interior design and relevant disciplines across the straits to do better in creative design thinking, drawing and communication. The value of the competition lies in energizing students’ creative thinking and boosting their hand drawing performance. After the competition is over, outstanding students across the straits will be selected to join a cultural exchange and creative design workshop, a platform for exchanges between young students across the straits.
Subject of the 2016 THD Award is business hotels, and the theme is cultural creativity; subject of the competition in 2017 is exhibition space design for original brands, and the theme is cultural and creative handicrafts; the 2017 event extended its influence as participating universities on the mainland of China increased to 11 and Taiwan universities increased to 4, and the total participating students doubled.
